This can be anything that has to do with people in groups. It can be a serious question, like 'why is there poverty' or 'how does social media affect political views,' or a silly question like 'why is 90s fashion back?' For your question to be sociological, it needs to focus on human behavior and interaction. For example, a question like, 'is depression hereditary' or 'how does the flu spread' would be more psychological or biological than sociological.
State your hypothesis (or, if you're doing inductive research, state your research objectives).
In one sentence, explain what types of publications you would use for a literature review. In a second sentence, explain why researchers do this step. (This is a content-based question. )
Would you use a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approach? Which method, in particular, would you use (ex. - survey, experiment, observation, interviews, etc.)? Why did you choose this method?
What ethical issues would you have to consider in completing your research project?
