1. Non-verbal communication can tell you a lot. Think about a time when you were on an airplane or bus. Describe what non-verbals you might have seen by the person sitting in the isle seat, the middle seat, and the window seat. Was their any significance to what you observed?
2. Can non-verbal communications be managed or developed or are they inherent in your personality and generally not altered?
3. When you are interacting with someone, do you tend to notice non-verbals or do you focus primarily on the spoken word to get the real meaning from the conversation? Do cultural differences impact non-verbal communication? Why or why not?
4. What would you describe as some types of annoying non-verbal communications? What impact, if any, has that had on the quality of a conversation that you might have had in the past?
5. What do you think your non-verbal communication skills might say about you? Have you ever been told that you have a particular non-verbal that you use often? If so, what is it? What has the impact been? If you could change one thing related to non-verbal communication skills about yourself, what would that be?
