Consider the last 3 digits of your student ID composed of seven digits. Ignore all zeros and convert the remaining digits to binary format (each digit is represented by a maximum of 4bits). For example, 6000385 is simplified to 385 and then converted to 0011 1000 0101. If less than 3 digits add random digits to make it over 3 digits. Assume now that we want to send your student ID while being able to detect and correct single bit errors.

1.1) Using two-dimensional parity check show what will be transmitted using datawords of size 4bits.

1.2) Using the hamming code show what would be the codeword that corresponds to your simplified binary student ID. Dataword size is 12bits.

1.3) Assume that a single bit error occurred and corrupted the 8 th bit (numbering starts from 1 and from right).

a) Show that the receiver of such corrupted codeword will be able to correct the error when using the hamming code.

b) Can this error be corrected if the two-dimensional parity check is used? If Yes say how in details.
