Two small metal balls, carrying a charge +Q, are lying on an insulating surface a distance D apart. On either side of the two balls are small metal posts that are fixed to the surface. The distance between the posts and the balls is also D. The dimension of the balls and the posts are small compared to D. What charge Q must be put on each of the posts to prevent the two balls from rolling away from their initial postions?
