History of Present Problem: Anna Parker is a 26-year-old female coming to the ED for treatment of a wound infection on her right leg. Patient states she tripped and fell while hiking, injuring her right lower extremity. She cleaned the wound to the best of her ability and initially thought it was healing well. A week later she noticed pain and redness in the area of the injury, she also noted a greenish-yellow exudate on the dressing when changed. The patient is admitted to the hospital and started on IV piperacillin/tazobactam. Personal/Social History: Ms. Parker is single, lives with a roommate. She is in grad school and is currently a 6th grade teacher. PMH: Celiac disease, GERD. Patient has a remote allergy to penicillin from childhood with cutaneous reaction and is unclear of current allergy status. She is also allergic to strawberries and gluten.
