A 60-year-old man is being treated for colon cancer by his oncologist. He presents to the nurse practitioner today for suggestions on how to improve his cachexia. He states that his appetite is good on days he does not receive therapy; however, he is concerned that no matter what he eats, he is unable to maintain his precancerous weight.
