Travel Project: - Imagine that you have been hired by a major corporation to plan and market an incentive trip for their top performing managers and their spouses/significant other. Your client has decided that they would like to take their people on a luxury cruise aboard a mid-sized cruise ship to an exotic destination. The client expects to have 450 employees qualify for the trip, so with their plus one and the corporate leadership they would like to charter a ship that can accommodate 1,000 people for a 5 day/4-night cruise. Use an existing cruise on an existing cruise line / ship using an existing itinerary. The client wants to see the factors considered in the formulating of this trip, so a degree of background and influencing materials needs to be included.
1. Identify which cruise you will recommend to your client. (Cruise line / destinations / name of the ship / main amenities onboard).
2. Identify the company you are working for (name/product/size/culture). How would you describe the employees of the company (demographics/psychographics)? And distinguish some of the typologies of tourist roles. Where does your client fit in?
3. Develop a sample social media ad about your trip.
4. Outline the plan for your trip. Be sure to compare your targeting and positioning and to describe your tactics and action plans. More details please.
5. Identify the key intermediaries involved in the tourism and hospitality distribution system.
6. Compare the two different distribution channels that the service provider or principal can pursue.
7. Summarize the importance of online intermediaries.
8. Distinguish between the two main types of channel organization. And describe the two major forms of vertically integrated marketing system-alliances and franchises and discuss how a company ensures the effective execution of the distribution strategy.
