Transient Problem requiring the Excel Method
You are asked to create an Excel Spreadsheet to solve the following problem. You can look up the formula you will need to enter in your spreadsheet in the Solutions document. However I will give extra credit if you use simpler trigonometry functions. (two are all that's needed.) I will also give extra credit if you use Matlab to resolve the solution. Here is the problem.
A floor trolley has started to pull a rope to the right along the floor at 1 ft/sec. It started at time = 0 and has accelerated to its maximum speed by 1 second. It has travelled 1 foot to the position shown below. It has now drawn all the slack out of the rope and it is ready to pick up a load. It will continue at constant speed (no acceleration) as shown.
It must lift Load "A" up 3 feet so it can be loaded into a pickup truck.
Set up a spreadsheet like the ones in Blackboard under Course Documents titled "Excel Method". How long does the trolley track need to be and how long will it take from t=0 until the load is lifted 3 feet? Pick a time step that fills one page and plot Velocity of "A" versus time and rate that rope from "B to C" lengthens versus timeon a separate page.
A 1.11 kg block slides down a 24.0 m long 28.0° incline at constant velocity. How much work is done by friction
How much does the spring stretch. A 1200 {rm kg} car traveling at a speed of 15 {rm m/s} skids to a halt on wet concrete where f_k = 0.20. how long are the skid marks.
A cylindrical cork of radius R=1.5cm height d = 0.75cm and specific gravity of 0.24 floats at an air -water interface. How far below the surface of the water is the bottom of the cork in equilibrium
A steel cable with total length 20m and mass 100kg is connected to two poles. The tension in the cable is 2,000N, and the wind makes the cable vibrate with a frequency of 2Hz. Calculate the wavelength of the resulting wave on the cable.
A computer hard disk starts from rest, then speeds up with an angular acceleration of 190 rad/s(squared) until it reaches its final angular speed of 7200 rpm
A student sitting on a frictionless rotating stool has rotational inertia 0.90kg•m2 about a vertical axis through her center of mass when her arms are tight to her chest. Ignoring her arm mass, what's her new rotational velocity
A positive charge Q = 6400.00 C is uniformly distributed over the volume of a sphere of radius R =1.50 m. Assume a spherical cavity of radius R/2 is cut out of the solid sphere, the center of the cavity being a distance R/2 from the center of the ori..
Use Ampere’s law to determine the magnetic field in a densely wound toroidal solenoid with inner radius a, outer radius b, and N total turns. The cross section of the solenoid is a rectangle of width b-a and height h.
A water pipe decreases in diameter from 16 cm to 8 cm. In the wider section the average velocity is 30.0cm/s. calculate the average velocity in the narrow section
Joe, standing stationary on a beach, sees a small boat of mass M = 195 kg go by at constant speed V = 13.1 m/s. Tom, a man of mass m = 88.5 kg, Find the speed of the boat v, relative to Joe
