1. You've read about how scholars and practitioners have thought about leadership-e.g., trait-based to contingency models, transactional vs. transformational, and more contemporary view of leadership like authentic and servant leadership.
Pick a person that you know that you think of as a leader (they do not have to have a formal title as leader or manager). This person can be from your present or past organization. They can be an exemplar leader, someone who is new to the role, or someone in above their head.
DO NOT USE THEIR REAL NAME.
You have two objectives. First, start with a (very brief) summary of the persons current role, responsibilities, and challenges this person faces (just a couple of sentences-don't make this part too complicated). Next, summarize their current leadership style or approach, then offer a brief critique (good and bad) compared to their role and objectives and organizational culture. Does their style 'fit' with the situation? Are they effective? Why or why not?
Second, as a consultant, describe the main challenges they'll likely face in the next few years. Be explicit about what you think this new future holds-e.g., technology changes, global competition, resource scarcity-and how you see this changing their role (no more than 1 or 2 'challenges'-you don't need to go into a lot of detail about these). What type of leadership is required in this new future? How should they change as leaders to respond/adapt to this new world? Why?
