A hockey match was held last Saturday at the Cook Sports Club to a sellout crowd. The match, a grand final, was between the Townsville Meerkats and the Cairns Cassowaries. It was tied with only a few minutes left to play. In the last seconds of play the ball was struck by a player with such force that it went over the stands and the club's five (5) metre high boundary fence onto the road outside. At that moment, Tina, who was unaware the match was taking place, was crossing the road outside the Cook Sports Club and was hit by the hockey ball. The hit caused permanent damage to Tina's hearing. She also required corrective cosmetic surgery to fix the broken bones in her face. As a result of the injuries caused by the ball Tina is unable to work in her job as a sound technician at the Music Bowl Studios. Tina now wants to sue the Cook Sports Club. Advise Tina in tort law.
