In one of the recent tourism and hospitality recovery meetings with key local stakeholders, you have learned about the recent 3V (Visit, Vaccinate, Vacation) campaign launched by the Maldives governing authorities to attract as many tourists as possible to their destination. This campaign aims to appeal to international travellers by offering them holiday packages with a guaranteed COVID-19 vaccination.
While Medical Tourism is not a new phenomenon, Vaccine Tourism is most certainly an unchartered territory that raises ethical and governing issues in post-COVID-19 tourism recovery discussions. To better understand potential ethical and governing issues associated with Vaccine Tourism, the DMOs tourism board has tasked you to prepare a 1000- word written analysis in which you are to:
- outline the potential ethical and governing problems associated with launching vaccine tourism campaign in Australia;
- identify and discuss who should be responsible for rectifying problems that you have identified by explaining your reasoning; and
- suggest at least three recommendations to overcome such problems by supporting them with examples from other countries that have successfully managed ethical and governing issues related to Medical Tourism.
