(a) The outlet tap of a full home water tank is 1.2 m below the top of the tank.

(i) Show that the gauge pressure of water at the tap when the tap is closed is 12,000 Pa.

(ii) Using Torricelli's law or Bernoulli's equation (or otherwise), and assuming that water is an ideal fluid (zero viscosity), find the speed of water flowing through the tap when the tap is opened.

(b) If a tap with a gauge pressure of 12,000 Pa is connected to a 10 m length of hose with a diameter of 20 mm, find the volume rate of flow of 'real' (viscous) water through the hose. (Assume that the viscosity of water equals 1.0 * 10^-3 Pa s.)
