An electric motor can accelerate a Ferris wheel of moment of inertia I = 18500kg·m2 from rest to 10.1rev/min in 12.0s. When the motor is turned off, friction causes the wheel to slow down from 10.1 to 8.1 rev/min in 10.0s.

1) Decide the torque generated by the motor to bring the wheel to 10.1 rev/min.

2) Decide the power that would be needed to maintain this rotational speed.

Moderate wind accelerates a pebble over a horizontal : A moderate wind accelerates a pebble over a horizontal xy plane with a constant acceleration. At time t = 0, the velocity is. What are the (a) magnitude and (b) angle of its velocity when it has been displaced by 13.0 m parallel to the x axis?
Moment of inertia of the wheel about the rotation axis : An experimental bicycle wheel is placed on a test stand so that it is free to turn on its axle. If a constant net torque of 8.00 N m is applied to the tire for 2.00 s, the angular speed of the tire increases from zero to 100 rev/min.
Direction-friction in the physics sense : Ken and Kim are skating together on a rink at 3.00 m/s. Ken keeps asking Kim how much she weighs. Annoyed, Kim pushes away from Ken so that she speeds up to 4.00 m/s and he slows down to 2.40 m/s in the same direction. Friction, in the physics sense,..

Torque generated by the motor to bring the wheel : An electric motor can accelerate a Ferris wheel of moment of inertia I = 18500kg·m2 from rest to 10.1rev/min in 12.0s. When the motor is turned off, friction causes the wheel to slow down from 10.1 to 8.1 rev/min in 10.0s.
Disk-shaped merry-go-round of radius : A disk-shaped merry-go-round of radius 2.63 m and mass 155 kg rotates freely by an angular speed of 0.712 rev/s. A 59.4 kg person running tangential to the rim of the merry-go-round at 2.76 m/s jumps onto its rim and holds on. Before jumping on the m..
Golden earrings and the golden ratio : A popular earring design features a circular piece of gold of diameter D with a circular cut out of diameter d, as shown in the figure. If this earring is to balance at the point P, show that the diameters should satisfy the condition: D = fd, where ..
Gauge velocity of bullet is to have two cardboard disks : An experiment that can be used to gauge the velocity of a bullet is to have two cardboard disks attached to a rotating shaft some distance apart and to gauge the angular separation of the holes made by the bullet. In such an experiment, two cardboard..
Two blocks collide on a frictionless surface : Two blocks collide on a frictionless surface. After the collision, the blocks stick together. Block A has a mass M and is initially moving to the right at speed v. Block B has a mass 2M and is initially at rest. System C is composed of both blocks.
