To test at the 5% level of significance, whether the true proportion of diabetics in the state of Florida between the ages of 18 and 44 years is 15%. It is shown that out of 1,260 diabetics in the state of Florida in 2007, 146 were in the outlined age group.

a) Determine the point estimate and perform the more appropriate one-tail hypothesis testing the claim that the true proportion of diabetics between the ages of 18 and 44 years is 15%.

b) Just 10 years prior, in 1997, out of a total of 650 diabetics in the state of Florida, 91 were between the ages of 18 and 44 years. Rework part (a) for the data given in 1997.

c) Over the 15- year time span between 1994 and 2008, the average number of diabetes in the state of Florida is estimated to be 914 individuals, of which 121 are between the ages of 18 and 44 years. Rework part (a) for the overall yearly average.

d) Compared parts a, b, and c. Discuss what useful information can be obtained from this analysis.
