This term comes from the sales perspective and it is when a sales person has 60 seconds to sell his product to a perspective customer.

Assume you are at a conference somewhere related to what you want your career to be in. You get in the elevator and find a person who is the manager at your dream job (whatever that is). They say that they are looking to hire someone in your dream job. They push the button for 57 floors up, and you have 60 seconds to sell yourself.

This isn’t in response to an ad and it is not an interview. You want to ASK for an interview, though. You wouldn’t normally have your resume with you as you didn’t know you would be meeting anyone.
