Thinking about epidemiology there are many different ways the study helps within the community. For starters, epidemiology is the study of how often diseases occur and why ( BMJ Pu lications, 2022). By studying diseases and who is mostly affected it allows is to gauge precautions so that more people are not affected. The data from studies also allows us to see what nationality is affected more than another group. The information from these studies helps us to understand how to control the diseases with a specific group of people.

For example, many studies have shown that African Americans are more prone for high blood pressure and diabetes due family history and other factors. The diets of soul. food and other issues such as lack of exercise have contributed to the problem. One way epidemiological data helps is by allowing the studies done to see what ethnic group is affected and how the diseases affect the body. According to the National Institute of Health (2007) communities have become a focus of planning and implementing health research. Health inequities are what is needed to make sure that funding and low income families are being included in these studies.

When COVID-19 became a major issue within health and h no one knew what was going on. All we knew was that people with preexisting conditions were affected more than those without any health concerns. As time went on we found that issues from this disease had lasting affects on those experiencing symptoms as well as long term affects.
