1. Imagine a society where racial and ethnic democracy are realities and not just ideals. Describe what that would look like to you (be sure to integrate course concepts from this chapter into your response).

2. Drawing on two current examples or examples from recent or extended history, explain why multiracial coalitions might be particularly conducive to achieving racial democracy.

3. Think back to Chapter 4 when we discussed economics, race and ethnicity. Just as there is institutional racism, poverty is institutional. While it may affect different groups to varying degrees, it still affects us as a People - The Human Race. In order for people to claim their economic power, most would argue that we cannot be divided. Building on your response to the previous question (or perhaps contrasting with - depending on your responses), briefly discuss whether you think that multiracial coalitions are necessary if we want to address and begin to eradicate institutional poverty. Please include whether you think the abolition (or at least a steep decline in) racism and ethnic discrimination is necessary in order for our society realize the end of institutional racism.
