Case 1. After the lockdown, Michelle invited Donna out for dinner. While they were eating, Michelle saw an Indonesian family arriving at the restaurant. She whispered something to Donna about the Indonesian family and it bothered Donna. Donna knew the statement was derogatory, ethnocentric and racist. Donna knows Michelle so much as a person and a friend, but she was not comfortable with what Michelle said and Donna wanted to tell her friend frankly how she felt. Donna thought it was right to open Michelle's mind and teacher her to develop respect to other cultures or cultural groups.

Essay task: Write a short essay with an introduction, a body and a conclusion. The introduction must constitute an argument or a thesis statement revolving around ethnocentrism, stereotyping and racism. In writing your essay, pay attention to cultural diversity, cultural sensitivity and cultural relativism as a response to ethnocentrism, stereotyping and racist comments. Use the case above as an example.
