Assessment - Entrepreneur Interview Report
Assessment: Interview an entrepreneur and prepare a report on your findings.
You will find a local entrepreneur from the tourism, hospitality, or events industry, to interview and prepare a short report on their experience.
You will demonstrate your skills and knowledge by summarising the role of the entrepreneur in a new enterprise creation process and assessing the ways in which entrepreneurs:
• perceive opportunity,
• manage risk,
• organise resources
• add value.
1. Identify an entrepreneur from the tourism, hospitality, or events industry, that you can interview.
You must choose someone who has either started a new business within the past three years or has acted entrepreneurially in their existing business. For example, they may have entered a new market, introduced new services/products, redesigned the way their business operates, or made other significant entrepreneurial decisions.
2. Make an appointment with that entrepreneur to interview them.
You must address:
• The reasons you chose this person as an entrepreneur;
• relate your topics and analysis of the interview to innovation and entrepreneurship theory;
• discuss whether your interviewee behaves entrepreneurially including how they;
o perceive opportunity,
o manage risk,
o organise resources
o add value.
• make recommendations on any area(s) that the entrepreneur could improve upon
Learning Outcome 1: Summarise the role of the entrepreneur in the new enterprise creation process.
Learning Outcome 2: Assess the ways in which entrepreneurs perceive opportunity, manage risk, and organise resources and add value.
