After ascertaining the adequacy of the anesthetic, a Pfannenstiel ncision was made approximately 3 fingers breaths above the pubic symphysis and carried down to the level of the fascia. The fascia was dissected off the underlying rectus muscles. A transverse curvilinear incision was made in the lower uterine segment and extended upward and aterally. Fetal membranes were ruptured and a viable male infant was delivered. Umbilical cord was doubly clamped and cut. The placenta was delivered by manual extraction. The uterus was exteriorized. The uterine ncision was reapproximated with two layers of sutures. The uterus was returned to the abdominal cavity and the abdominal incision closed.
