In this experiment, several saturatedsolutions of borax will be saturated with a standard solution ofHCl. The titration data obtained will be used to calculate the value for the equilibrium constant for the dissolution of borax inwater, the value for the equilibrium constant change as thetemperature changes, and the values for ΔHo, ΔSo, andΔGo for the dissolution of borax in water. I have a fewquestions about the experiment: why is it important that as littlesolid borax possible be transferred to the test tube when samplinga saturated borax solution, and why is it important that the testtubes are dry when the saturated borax solutions are poured intothem.
