The temperature of a household refrigerator is maintained at 0C and the temperature of the room at 25C. The heat leaking into the refrigerator from the warm room is 8*10^6 J every 24 hours, enough to melt 50lb of ice in 50 hours. This heat must be removed from the refrigerator at 0C.
