A 4 cylinder 1.6 liter SI engine has a compression ratio of 10, connecting rod length of 16.8cm, and a crank offset of 4.5 cm. The engine is operating at 3000 RPM and wide open throttle. The exhaust pressure is 100 kPa. The intake valve closes at 20 degrees after BDC and the spark occurs at 15 degrees before TDC. The exhaust valve opens 40 degrees before BDC. Assume at the start of compression (when the intake valve closes) the temperature in the cylinder is 70 degrees C and the pressure is 100 kPa. The peak temperature is 3500 C and the peak pressure is 9200 kPa.
