1. Consider the following two tasks, and explain their difference:

The task of modeling the process of signing a rental contract in your city.

The task of modeling the process of getting a license plate for your car in Melbourne as an international student.

2. An online clothing retailer faces a problem with its order process in terms of processing time. In order to identify the root cause of the problem, the company decides that every team involved with the order process should model its part of the process. Why could this approach be problematic?

3. Imagine you would be assigned the task of modelling the process of how a clothing order is processed by your favourite online clothing retailer. How can you systematically gather the required pieces of information about this process? Approximately how long would it take to gather this information? Assume the process has 10 major activities, conducted by different people.

4. Use the workshop-based discovery technique to build a map of activities in temporal order for a process which illustrates the completion of ITECH 5404, Assignment 1: Reading Circle.

The workshop-based discovery technique encourages all participants including the facilitator, tool operator, domain expert, process owner and process analysts to brainstorm all events and activities associated with a process, by using sticky notes or pieces of paper to record activities and events, and organise them in a temporal format.
