My teaching profession started last year and since then, I have worked with a range of kids. However, this year 22-23, I am seeing a lot of unhappy kids who only attend school because they have to and don't mind sharing that with you. Not just in my classroom but throughout the school. They just "don't like school". At my first teaching job, the school was literally built around these gorgeous mansions. The resources were plentiful. I remember opening the cabinets in my kindergarten classroom and going WOW! I had everything I needed to make sure my students succeeded. I was so sad to leave but I needed something closer.

Since last year, I saw an increase in the number of children who don't appreciate learning new things or making friends. Fourth grade is a jump from kindergarten but even as a doctorate student, I feel our education journeys run smoother when we "desire to learn". Now, my current school is in the "country", it's a D graded, and a Title I school. The student population is about 99% minority. These children are very economically disadvantaged here. Just in my classroom alone, I assigned myself the task of determining the causes of and potential solutions for the improvement of my student's interest in learning.
