A cylinder - piston system contains 4 kilograms of liquid water (liquid and vapor, saturated) at 35 C. A piston (frictionless) with cross-sectional area of 600 cm2 is initially on the stops shown, and the volume below is 30,000 cm3. The piston needs to be raised against atmospheric pressure and to do so a pressure of 0.3 MPa needs to be applied. Upon upward motion, the piston will encounter a linear spring when the cylinder volume reaches 75,000 cm3. The spring constant is such that to compress the spring 100 cm a force of 360 kN is needed. At the end, the pressure in the cylinder is 7 MPa. Obtain:
