The social and cultural dimensions of illness and disease are included in the social dimension. Socioeconomic level, culture, social and familial support, and access to healthcare are all included. For instance, a person's social support system can affect their capacity to manage their health, their socioeconomic situation can affect their access to healthcare, and their cultural views might affect how they view disease and illness. The surroundings of the patient are referred to as the social part of the biopsychosocial paradigm.
