Question

The social and cultural dimensions of illness and disease are included in the social dimension. Socioeconomic level, culture, social and familial support, and access to healthcare are all included. For instance, a person's social support system can affect their capacity to manage their health, their socioeconomic situation can affect their access to healthcare, and their cultural views might affect how they view disease and illness. The surroundings of the patient are referred to as the social part of the biopsychosocial paradigm. This part examines the diseases from a social perspective and ascertains whether outside variables might have affected the patient's illness's presentation. These outside variables could be anything, such as peer group, religion, economic status, primary relationships, or cultural surroundings. For instance, anorexia cannot be directly attributed to the media. However, a young girl may develop anorexia due to the media's presentation and labeling of only slender women as "beautiful." (Anorexia is a disorder marked by severe and purposeful weight loss by vomiting after eating.)
