Question

The resident returned from dialysis at around 3:30 PM. A nurse went to check on her and requested any necessary paperwork from her husband, who was present in the room. However, the husband refused to provide the paperwork, stating he wanted to give it to the morning nurse who was there when he brought his wife for dialysis. Approximately 30 minutes later, the nurse attended to the resident's right foot, performing a dressing change without any complaints from the resident. Shortly after the nurse left the room, the resident was speaking with her son, who then abruptly called the nursing station. He informed the nurse that his mother needed to go to the emergency room (ER) because she wasn't feeling well, and he had already called 911 from home. As the nurse prepared to assess the resident's condition by asking questions and checking vital signs, she noticed an ambulance arriving and subsequently took the resident to the ER. The nurse did not have the opportunity to complete her assessment before the ambulance intervened.
