The following paragraph describes the process that a rep must follow to communicate test results to a doctor: After results are received from the Lab, the rep must check to see whether they are marked “routine”. If the results are, in fact, for routine tests, then the results must be faxed through to the relevant doctor and the action can be marked complete. However, if the results are not routine, then the rep must call the doctor. If the doctor is available then the results are communicated to the doctor, and the action is marked complete. If the doctor is unavailable, the receptionist will usually provide an estimate of what time the rep may call back (in the interest of confidentiality, the rep is not allowed to communicate the results to a receptionist or assistant). If the rep calls a second time and the doctor is still unavailable, then the rep may leave a message with the receptionist for the doctor to return the rep’s call. The action must be marked “pending” on the system, which essentially completes this part of the process. Draw a simple process map to depict the process. Use only the information contained in the paragraph above.
