When determining the major contributor for a resonance structure, is it better to have a carbocation (positive charge on a carbon but without a complete octet) or is it better to have a positive charge on an electronegative atom like oxygen? I have to choose which one of these is the major contributor and I know incomplete octets aren't great but I also know putting a positive charge on an electronegative atom isn't wonderful either
