Procedure The patient is in for scaling and root planning. The patient feels "off" but things he is just nervous for the anesthetic. You have administered local anesthetic to the right side of the mouth. Half way through the procedure, he asks, in a slurred voice if you numbed the other side of his face because it feels numb. He tried lifting his left arm to touch the left side of his face but could not raise it to his face.
