What techniques were used by Paleolithic artists to create the images on the interiors of caves?

ex answers)

-The Paleolithic artists did not just paint on the cave walls, they created naturalism through each contour and shaping of an animal. The shading or modeling on a bison's belly was meant to create depth. The depth created can represent a pregnant animal which was believed to stimulate fertility within the herds. This ensured food supply for the homo sapiens sapiens. Contouring of an animal's far leg was rendered lighter hue compared to the legs that were closer up. The forward contouring created depth.

- They used a lot of natural materials, materials that were easily accessible while creating this images. They used rocks, sand, mud, etc. anything that would make the image come across. In the upper levels of the caves they would use redish pigments because of the sand and mud, but towards the lowers levels they would use greyish/black pigments because that was the materials that were near them.
