By designing a study around an identified gap in practice, the likely end goal is to find a way to address the gap. For example, I plan to work with trauma and am currently working on narrowing down my gap. So far, I know that there is a lack of intervention or programs present to support children who have experienced trauma to prevent current and later life negative outcomes. This is a huge gap. The goal of my study is to identify areas or pieces which can be put into place which would support or mitigate this trauma and therefore address this gap. My study is designed to make specific recommendations to Baltimore's population of children. After making the recommendations in my study, I will share it with community and government organizations in an effort to have them use this information to create or change their existing programs based on the new data available from the study. This will address the gap within my community. After addressing this gap, the decreased or mitigated trauma in the youth of Baltimore is what will drive positive social change.
