The identified family consists of Ambrose (58), Evelyn (43), and newly adopted daughter, Joni (6). Ambrose and Evelyn have been married for ten years and live in Texas. Both Ambrose and Evelyn have adult children from previous marriages. The four adult children of Ambrose and their ages are Barbara (36), Nancy (33), Patrick (30), and Marcia (27). The children of Evelyn are Joey (23) and Mike (21). Most of the adult children are welcoming of the adoption of Joni except for Marcia, the youngest biological child of Ambrose. It is believed that Marcia now feels as though she has been displaced as the youngest daughter in the eyes of her father. She has made comments to another family member, implying that she would cause harm to Joni if given an opportunity.
