Problem- During the hydration and purification of norbornene with sulfuric acid, one of the purification steps is a cold water extraction/wash. Methylene chloride and water are used as the immiscible solvents. The first is the organic layer, which should attract the product, correct? Why is norborneol non-polar when it has an alcohol group? Isn't this the product being pulled out for purification?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What is the theoretical yield (in mol) of carbon monoxide when 2.62 mol oxygen reacts with 2.08 mol of ethanol (CH3CH2OH) to produce carbon monoxide and water
Calculate the pH of a buffer made with 0.50M phosphoric acid and 0.75M sodium dihydrogenphosphate. Ka = 7.5 x 10-3.
Indicators can be used to estimate the pH value of soultions. To determine the pH of a 0.01M weak acid (HX), a few drops of three different indicators are added to separate portions of HX. The resulting colors of the HX solution are below.
Characterize each of the following as a strong, weak, or non-electrolyte: a. H2O, b.HCl, c.HNO3, d.KCl, e.KNO3, f.KOH, g.CH3CO2H, h.CUSO4, i.NH3, j.Ca(NO3)2,k. Al(NO3)3
An airplane is pressurized to 650 {rm mm,Hg}, which is the atmospheric pressure at a ski resort at 1.30×104 {rm ft} altitude. If the partial pressure of oxygen drops below 100 {rm mm,Hg}, passengers become drowsy.
Calculate the concentration of an aqueous solution of Ca(OH2)that has a pH of 12.57? Express your answer using two significant figures.
The mass spectrum of an organic compound shows the relative abundances of M to be 38.82% and M 1 to be 7.977%. Assuming the peaks are caused by 12C and 13C isotopes, determine the number of carbon atoms in the compound. Natural abundances: 12C is ..

When CO(g) (9.035 mol) and 144.6 grams of O2(g) in a 220.0 L reaction vessel at 608.0 °C are allowed to come to equilibrium the mixture contains 0.02021 mol/L of CO2(g). What is the concentration (mol/L) of CO(g)? 2CO(g)+O2(g) = 2CO2(g)
The oxygenated hemoglobin then transports the oxygen to cells that need it. Once there, the hemoglobin releases oxygen. Excess carbon dioxide is picked up by the hemoglobin and transported to the lungs where it is released and exhaled.
