Question

The goal will be to derive the velocity gradient in the fluid when a cone-shaped object is rotating above the fluid in contact with a bottom plate that is stationary. You will find an expression for the viscosity in terms of revolution rate, cone angle, and radius. Finally, you will consider an experiment in which endothelial cells are grown on the bottom plate. You will see that a cone-and plate-viscometer can be used to give uniform shear stress to cells.
