The Goal: The Process of Ongoing Improvement has been a highly recommended read for managers as it describes a realistic, but fictional situation in which a manager struggles to save his career and his plant. The book also introduced Goldbratt's Theory of Constraints. The Theory of Constraints has been applied across a broad array of industries: Education, Health Care, Technology, Telecommunications, Defense, Construction, Manufacturing, and Services. While Goldbratt took an 'easy to read novel' approach to The Goal, the book has many valuable lessons for managers and the management field. The book also helps students think critically about process improvement in any business environment.

Include 7-10 management lessons you thought were the most valuable from the book. Provide elaboration of why the lessons were important to you and how they could be applied. Discuss various 'aha' moments you had while reading the book. An ‘aha’ moment is a sudden realization or insight that allows you to see something in a different light. How can you apply concepts from the book in your career now or in the future? Discuss 3 specific examples of how the concepts can be applied.
