1. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):

a. applies only to employers with 15 or more employees.

b. allows employers to exempt certain categories of workers from the overtime pay requirements.

c. absolutely prohibits the employment of children under the age of 14.

d. requires employers to pay employees a minimum wage.

2. Independent contractors

a. are under the control of their employer/principal as to both the objective of their work and the means used to achieve it.

b. are under the control of their employer/principal as to the result that is to be achieved, but not as to the means used to accomplish that result.

c. just bring the parties together rather than actually negotiating a contract.

d. do not maintain their own inventory of goods, but instead they take orders on behalf of their principal.
