HIE is the exchange of health information exchange that allows doctors, nurses, pharmacies, patients, and other health care providers to access and share the patients health information securely. This exchange improves the speed, quality, cost, and safety of the patients care. This information helps improve diagnosis, decrease duplicate testing, avoid medication errors, and avoid readmissions.
