Question

While reading this case study I noticed that the ethics beneficence and nonmaleficence could have been performed better by the patient's primary physician. Beneficence is the ethic that is focused on performing actions that overall benefit the patient. This patient has chronic, critical blood pressure that could higher his chances of other serious conditions such as a stroke. Nonmaleficence is the obligation of medical professionals to not put their patients in harms way. By the patient's primary care provider not alerting him to the dangers of high blood pressure and what it could cause can potentially endanger his life. This helps me understand why ethics are needed in medical treatment rather than just using ethics in therapeutic communication and treatment.
