The energy released by alpha decay in a 500.0-g sample of 238 Pu is to be used to heat 4.50 kg (about 1 gallon) of water. Assuming all the energy released by the radioactive decay goes into heating the water, find how much the temperature of the water increases in 1 minute. Hint: you need to find the number of decays per minute.
