The endosymbiosis theory argues that mitochondria and chloroplasts were originally prokaryotic cells that were engulfed by ancestors of current day eukaryotic cells. List two properties possessed by both mitochondria and chloroplasts that suggest a prokaryotic origin and explain how each property is more prokaryotic than eukaryotic.
