Q)  Most important organizational outcomes are achieved through collaborative effort, or more specifically, individuals who work together in informal or formal teams

Over the past number of years there has been an increase in 'team-building' training. One common approach is to have the group/team undergo 'outdoor wilderness/adventure' experiences. Part of the rationale for 'team adventure' programs is that by providing some non-routine challenges, the team will bond and learn how to deal with change and overcome adversity together.

For some of us, at first glance, this appears too good to be true. What's not to like about being paid to get away from work and the noise and pollution of the city, away from overpriced 'boutique' coffee and Facebook/smart phone junkies, and getting into the Canadian wilderness, engaging in camping, canoeing, backpacking, and breathing that fresh (i.e. non-Toronto/ Hamilton) air? Yet, upon reflection, this is before you consider that you have to do all these things in conjunction with team members Bubba, Britnee and Snooki.

Utilizing course readings, modules, and theoretical concepts on teams/groups, discuss the benefits and limitations to 'team-building' training, and 'adventure' team training specifically.

Please feel free to share your experiences if you have undergone such experiences personally.
