The dimensions of a rectangular block of brass (Young's modulus9.0x1010 N/m2, shear modulus3.5x1010 N/m2) are 0.012 m, 0.024 m, and0.048 m. The block is to be glued to a table and subjected to ahorizontal force of 870 N, as shown in the figure. Note that thereare three possible choices for the surface of the block that is incontact with the table.
