Work : Object Oriented Design

1. In the northern U.S. and Canada, automated heating systems are essential for homes and apartments to provide livable spaces for occupants in the winter when the temperature drops.

Draw a state diagram for a home heating system, following the specifications below.

In addition to the UML "start" state, the Heater has 5 states: Idle, Elements Heating, Fan Blowing, Fan Stopping, and Elements Cooling.

The Heater remains in the Idle state until it receives a ‘heat' request. Once a heat request is received, the Heater transitions to the Elements Heating state, and stays there until the elements are heated. Immediately after the elements are heated, the fans blow, pushing the heated air through the home or apartment.

Upon reaching the desired temperature, a thermostat (separate from the Heater) sends the Heater a "stop heating" request. This request triggers the Heater to stop the fan and start cooling the elements.

After element cooling has begun, the Heater automatically returns to the Idle state, waiting for the next heat request.

2. What is the difference between white box and black box testing? What is regression testing, and why do we need to perform regression tests?

3. Do you think Object Orientation makes testing more complex? Why or why not?
