Professor Butcher's daughter Melissa would soon be graduating from Florida State University with a 3.7 average and dual majors in psychology and biology. She had an interview with Sea World Florida and was one of two finalists for a paid internship position.

Melissa's mother Kate called Professor Butcher with some information on their daughter. While divorced they still shared information about their daughter. She told him that she had found out there was a "raunchy" video of Melissa that was taken during Spring Break. He asked what she meant by "raunchy" if she had seen it. She replied she hadn't but had gotten this information on good authority.

Professor Baker met with his daughter for lunch the next day. During lunch he hesitantly broached the subject of the alleged video. Melissa "went off" her father demanding to know if he had been spying on her. This went back and forth with accusations such as who told you and how did they find out, and should I go see if it is indeed "raunchy"? They parted in a bad mood.

The next day Melissa received a phone call from Sea World Human Resources department. She was excited because she thought she was about to get the internship. However, she was told it was with regret that she was chosen. When she asked why, they said although she was the top choice, when they did an internet search of her name they had found a video that was "unprofessional". It was their policy to hire people who had to interact with patrons who did not have unprofessional or questionable social networking content because it would reflect badly on them if patrons connected the employee with the content.
