The collective bargaining agreement (employment contract) between a U.S. airline and the International Association of Machinists (IAM), which is the union representing the airline's maintenance personnel, prohibits those employees from "moonlighting" (performing mechanical work on aircraft owned by others). The airline hears that one of its mechanics has violated that provision and suspends the employee for 90 days without pay as punishment.
