The statistics lecturer wanted to find out the relationship between the number of hours spent by students studying for his end of semester exam and their examination results. His calculated constant was 31.78, b1 was 1.67 and r = + .9586.

(a) Write out the regression equation.

(b) What is the coefficient of determination and interpret it?

(c) Predict the exam result of a student who studied a total of 24 hours.

(d) Predict the exam result of a student who studied a total of 20 hours and compare it with an actual example of a student who did 20 hours and obtained a real score of 66. Can you explain why the real Y and the estimated Y differ?
