In a die-casting operation 0.1 kg charges of molten zinc alloy at 410 degrees C are injected at a rate of 120 charges per hour. The liquid metal has a specific heat of 500 J kg-1 K-1 and a freezing temperature of 400 degrees C. The latent heat of solidification of the alloy is 2000 J kg-1. The casing is ejected from the die as soon as it is solid. The insulated die is water cooled at a rate C(Td-To), where Td is the die temperature, To = 20 degrees C is the ambient temperature and C has the value 1 J s-1K-1. Calculate the average die temperature after a long period of steady operation.
