The Adult Client with musculoskeletal Disorder

Annual direct and indirect costs for bone and joint health are 849 billion– 7.7% of the gross domestic product. You might think that cancer is the most dangerous illness affecting the global population but in reality, disorders that you might not be aware are the leading cause of death in the United States of America. The symptoms are commonly seen around mid-40 and 50’s and others don’t realize they have them. Approximately 50 million seniors are experiences major physical pain which includes the fingers, hips, knees, lower back and feet.

Cartilage is the firm, rubbery tissue that cushions your bones at the joints, and allows bones to glide over one another. If the cartilage breaks down and wears away, the bones rub together. This causes pain, swelling, and stiffness, bony spurs or extra bone may form around the joint. The ligaments and muscles around the joint become weaker and stiffer. Often, the cause of OA is unknown. It is mainly related to aging.

My family practice herbal medicine and the result to osteoarthritis can be caused by aging, heredity, and injury from trauma or disease. In my country osteoarthritis is related to malnutrition because the lack of nutrients is not absorbed and many complications occur in the cellular level in the biochemical processes which may leads to that illness

I usually perform therapy on my relative’s patients by massaging their arms, shoulder, and feet and one of those patients is a friend of mine she had severe pain at an early age not a result of heredity, or aging but common cold that usually occur when leaving wet clothes for long period of time. It is also associated to menstrual cramps and the bones become weaker and weaker leading to osteoarthritis. I always treat those patients but I never knew the terms to use because it’s a broad spectrum of illness that had same symptoms but different effect. Whenever I put my hands on her knees I felt two bones are breaking down inside and they also make disturbing noise while massaging and it’s very painful. A remedy for physical therapy is to massage the affected part with orange and salt or corn, orange, and salt and leave it for 3 hours. What it does it relaxing the muscles and elongate the muscle tissues making an ease of mobility between those affected areas. Acetaminophen or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, hot cold compresses not necessarily a relief because it might not react on those patients. Moreover, weight losses are great benefits to reduce the pressure and the massive force exerts on those bones. Capsaicin, hot pepper placed on those joints, orthoses to help assemble the joints ,and surgery, joint, total hip, total knee replacements viscosupplementation a hyaluronic acidic injected to procure the missing fluid and add lubrication if the deformities has no other capabilities.

The best medicaments to prevent those physical illnesses are to eat on healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive attitude toward your lifestyle. Embrace yourself and love the skin you in.
